Welcome
I am Cameron Clapp, a teenage triple amputee. On
September 15, 2001, 4 days after the tragedy of 9/11, my
15 year old life changed forever as I experienced a
tragedy of my own. I was hit by a train, resulting in the
loss of three limbsone arm and both legs above the
knee. Remarkably, my head and body escaped the accident
with hardly a scratch. For that I am very grateful.

With this web site, I wish to share my unique
experiences with others, to hopefully inspire them to
pursue and achieve their own goals regardless of the
challenges they may face, and to provide useful
information and resources for those having to deal with a
loss of limb themselves.
My journey has been quite a challenge, yet remarkable.
I found I possessed a determination that I never realized
I had before that fateful day. I found myself determined
to make the most of my life despite the obvious
challenges.

My family
Although my determination and positive attitude have
helped me make substantial progress, this progress is
largely a result of the love and support my family and
friends have given so freely, and to the immeasurable
inspiration I've received from my new friendsother
amputees.

My friends
In the two short years since my accident, I have not
only learned to walk again, but have become very involved
in disabled sports. I am now running, swimming and even
started playing golf. I have been interviewed as the
"Remarkable Runner" by CNN Headline
News. I have competed in running and swimming events at
two annual Endeavor Games sponsored by Hanger. And as
this web site is launched, I attended my first golf
tournament! That turned out to be my greatest challenge
so far.

When I'm not training or competing in disabled sports,
I spend time pursuing my love for art and music and
enjoying my family and friends.

Please browse my web site to learn more about me and
the challenges I've faced and events I've participated
in, and also to discover the useful resources for dealing
with a loss of limb that have helped me.

to compete in disabled sports and to be an advocate for
other young amputees, please contact me to learn how you
can help.

"I'm thankful I'm here today, alive and
participating in disabled athletic events. It's a way of
showing America, and just people in general, how much you
can do."

"You know, good things come from tragic
situations. I have met so many incredible people and have
participated in athletic events that I didn't even know
existed before my accident. It is very hard to go through
life missing three limbs, very hard, but it gets a little
easier everyday. I would never give up, that's just not
me."
